June is LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning) Pride Month

During this month and throughout the year, it is a good time to educate the general public, and break down barriers by increasing understanding and encouraging inclusive policies and practices for the LGBTQ community. Showing support for this diverse community, who are our family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors helps to build bridges of understanding here and around the world.

Communities across the country hold many different events including parades, workshops, celebrations, and concerts, marching for civil rights and bringing awareness about equality to the forefront. It is a good time for us to remember those who paved the way for the LGBTQ community and who continue to do so, and see what additional work still needs to be done, and how we can help to discourage any form of discrimination and intolerance.
